Lozère, Languedoc-Roussillon
The Lozère has the dubious distinction of geographically separating the Rhone-Alpes from the Midi-Pyrenees. Despite keeping these 2 giant mountain ranges apart, the Lozère has it’s own mountains: the Massif Centrale. Covering a part of the Cevennes National park, the Lozère has some of the wildest, and starkly beautiful scenery in the south of France. Hillside villages, (including one reputed to be the most picturesque village in France) wild rivers and life as it was pehaps 100 years ago, the Lozère is somewhere you can really ‘get away from it all’.
